Become a Docent with
Denver Public Art

Denver Photography Event

Do you love art?

The Denver Public Art program, part of Denver Arts & Venues, is seeking volunteers to serve as docents of Denver’s vast public art collection. A docent is a liaison between the Denver Public Art program and the general public. Docents serve as tour guides, give presentations to school groups and other organizations, and share background information on artworks from the collection, special exhibitions, and venues. The agency will provide docents $30 stipend for each tour to cover parking, food, etc.

Who should apply to become a docent?

We are looking for personable, outgoing, energetic and engaging individuals who are eager to learn about the Denver Public Art program’s collection and share that information with others.  Anyone 18 and older, with or without prior background in the arts or public speaking, is encouraged to apply. All that is required is an interest in the collection, a willingness to learn and improve skills. Docents should be prepared to make a one-year commitment to the program, leading at least two tours during the year.

  • Tours can be designed to fit a docent’s interests and physical ability.
  • An art background is helpful but not required.
  • Docents must commit to one year as an active docent and are expected to lead a minimum of two tours.
