SILVER LININGS SHRINE AT MOTHERSHIP YOUTH SHELTER

Final design is underway for “Silver Linings,” a luminous new artwork by Sujin Lim at Urban Peak’s Mothership. Crafted from stainless steel and created in close collaboration with youth at Urban Peak, the sculptural clouds will reflect the sky while capturing the spirit and creativity of the young people whose drawings shaped the final design. Floating above the building, “Silver Linings” will serve as both a beacon and a symbol of hope for youth seeking their way to the Mothership. Installation is expected in the summer of 2026.

Also at Mothership, Corinne Trujillo is bringing color and reflection to the southeast side of the building with her mural, “Rising.” Her final sculptural element will be installed in early 2026. Corinne also led bookbinding workshops with youth at the end of 2025, helping them create personal journals.

A MURAL OF HOPE AND TRANSFORMATION

Installation is underway for a powerful new mural by Vanny Channal and Ratha Sok at Ruby Hill. This vibrant artwork honors members of the local community—many of whom are refugees—through portraiture and storytelling. Sculptural butterfly elements accompany the mural, symbolizing transformation, hope and resilience. The installation will be completed just in time for the opening of the Community Gear Library and new park areas in 2026.

EARTH MEETS ART

Artist group WILMAPO is hard at work finalizing their design concept for the Athmar Library. This team uses a process called ‘rammed earth,’ a sustainable building technique in which natural materials such as soil, clay, sand, and gravel are compacted in layers to form solid walls or structures. Artists use this technique to create work that emphasizes texture, natural color, variation and environmental harmony. This project will be the first artwork of this medium in Denver’s Public Art collection.

SPOKEN WORD IN ART

A collaborative piece is coming to the Iowa underpass. Ratha Sok is creating “Through the Times,” a stunning two-dimensional artwork that incorporates spoken-word poetry by Jozer Guerrero. Ratha has partnered with Urban Peak Youth to recruit young people to help prepare the wall for painting—an inspiring example of community engagement through art.

ART SELECTIONS IN PROCESS AT ROSS-BROADWAY LIBRARY & WEST JEWELL BRIDGE

The calls for artists for both the Ross-Broadway Library and the West Jewell Avenue Bicycle and Pedestrian Bridge closed on December 1. Panelists are reviewing applications now and will convene in January to select finalists—January 15 for Ross-Broadway and January 9 for West Jewell.

MAINTENANCE SPOTLIGHT

Somebody Nobody” by Jamie Pawlus has been installed on South Broadway as part of the multi-piece series “Signs of Life.” This fun artwork is designed to be interactive and perfect for taking whimsical photos with the sign overhead.
