About This Piece

A duck, cottonwood leaf, and fish punctuate this urban river plaza. A paving of ripples expands to become seats, benches, shade structures, and sky. River and city life merge to create beauty, activity, and play. Forged bronze accents granite sculptures for this urban plaza along the Platte riverfront corridor.

Andy Dufford created a group of sculptural and landscape elements for a riverside plaza in Confluence Park. Cottonwood Leaf: This larger-than-life leaf is carved from green African granite, with a hand-fabricated bronze stem. The concave shape creates a cozy spot for social interaction or solitary reflection, and also invites imaginative play. The cottonwood leaf is one of three sculptures of native species made by Andy Dufford for a pedestrian gathering space he created at Confluence Park.
