Welcome to Denver Public Art’s quarterly update—a roundup of new installations, works in progress and artist news happening across our city.
Each post in this series is organized by city council district. Not sure which district your neighborhood is in? Use the City of Denver’s interactive map to find out.
NEW ART AT THE DENVER ART MUSEUM AND THE DENVER PUBLIC LIBRARY
When walking around the Denver Public Library and the Denver Art Museum campuses, you might notice some new artwork. Maybe a giant X? The Public Art program is excited to welcome three new works by Paula Castillo into the collection. While two of the three pieces were installed in 2024, the final piece, “Trestle,” near the entrance to the Denver Art Museum, completes the collection!
SUSPENDED SCULPTURE AT COLORADO CONVENTION CENTER
The newest public art installation at the Convention Center has officially arrived—and it’s breathtaking. The monumental suspended sculpture, “Mountain and Rivers without End,” created by the renowned Cliff Garten, now graces the space with its striking presence. Inspired by the flowing vitality of rivers and the grandeur of the Rocky Mountains, this piece captures movement, light and the essence of Colorado’s natural beauty. We’re planning a special dedication in 2026.
ARTIST RESIDENCY AT THE WEBB BUILDING
Six incredible artists—Thomas Evans (Detour), Viviane Le Courtois, David Garcia, AJ Kiel, Laura Shill and Jessica Bell—are diving into the creative process to shape the future of this iconic space. Over the next year, these artists will collaborate with key City teams like Transportation and Infrastructure, Parks and Recreation, Human Rights and Community Partnerships, Animal Shelter and the Auditor, immersing themselves in the work that keeps Denver moving. Their mission? To transform these insights into bold, permanent artworks that will debut as the Webb Building renovation is complete. The art is a celebration of the people and stories that power our city.
BUS RAPID TRANSIT (BRT) BRINGS MORE ART TO COLFAX
As Bus Rapid Transit construction continues, the Public Art Team is bringing creativity to the corridor. Five incredible artists/organizations—Access Gallery, KoCo Collaborations, Justin “Juhb” DeCou, Lui Ferreyra and Janelle Stanley—have poured their vision into 15 unique station designs stretching from Pennsylvania to Yosemite Streets. These works aren’t just decoration; they’re a vibrant reflection of the communities that call Colfax home. Each design tells a story, bringing color, culture and connection to one of Denver’s most iconic streets. The final designs are now in the hands of the fabrication team, and the first installation is expected to begin in January.
KEEPING DENVER’S PUBLIC ART SHINING
Our city’s iconic artworks are getting the care they deserve! Here’s what’s been happening behind the scenes to keep these masterpieces looking their best:
- “Man, Woman” by Fernando Botero at the Denver Performing Arts Complex has been cleaned and waxed to restore its signature sheen.
- “Infinite Energy” by Victor M. Contreras is also at the Arts Complex. It’s been polished to perfection, bringing back its dynamic brilliance.
- “Albedo” by Osman Akan at the Botanic Gardens parking area has been cleaned and refreshed, with two glass panels replaced for a flawless finish.
Regular maintenance ensures these works continue to inspire and delight for years to come.
