Welcome to Denver Public Art’s quarterly update—a roundup of new installations, works in progress and artist news happening across our city.
Each post in this series is organized by city council district. Not sure which district your neighborhood is in? Use the City of Denver’s interactive map to find out.
COMPLETED ARTWORK IN SLOAN’S LAKE PARK
Two 7.5-foot-tall steel and ceramic sculptures now greet Sloan’s Lake Park visitors at two entry points: the southwest parking lot and the north side of the lake trail.
- “Mother Nature” celebrates the park’s natural life and features various interactive elements.
- “Community” honors the neighborhood’s diverse peoples and its fascinating history.
Both artworks, by Gregory Fields, feature ceramic relief work with colorful glazes and interesting textures; the steel has a natural patina that will mature over time. These works were both installed at the end of 2025.
WORK UNDERWAY AT ROCKY MOUNTAIN LAKE PARK
A new, untitled artwork by Duncan Parks is underway, drawing inspiration from the park’s rich history of car camping at the turn of the 20th century. The piece will evoke nostalgia among early outdoor enthusiasts, capturing the spirit of adventure and connection to nature that defined this unique chapter in the Park’s story. The artwork will also include an additional bench overlooking the lake and the Front Range. Installation is planned for Spring 2026.
NEW ART COMING TO FEDERAL AND 25TH AVE
Artist duo Los Gatos Locos, made up of Mr. Hanimal and Carlos Frésquez, are nearing the installation of their sculptures, fittingly titled “Federal & 25th“. The outdoor sculpture will enhance the intersection and will be made using painted steel. The artwork will focus on Chicano and Latinx culture, use vibrant and playful colors and speak directly to the neighborhood and its history. The sculpture will also invite viewers to enjoy the businesses in the area. Installation is planned for Spring 2026 ahead of Cinco de Mayo.
